June 10 and 11/05, Doug was pleased to join A
Gift Of Love on their trip to Hermosillo, Mexico.
The
charity which was founded by synchronized swimmer Olympic gold medal winner,
Michelle Cameron-Coulter
and includes Kerrin
Lee-Gartner (Olympic gold medalist, downhill skiing) and
Martin Gelinas (NHL, Stanley Cup winner);
grew from an idea of Michelle's daughter to donate toys, books, spoting
equipment, clothes and more to underprivileged children. While the trip was short it was a privilege to be part of this life-changing
experience. I hope the kids enjoy "Jasper".

The Black Crowes were
ROCKIN' in Alberta (May
7&8/06)!!!
As I
suspected the crowd in
Edmonton was more into
it than Calgary.
I just happened to park
right across from the tour
bus, so I saw most of the
band heading in and met
drummer, Steve Gorman, after
the show. Very cool guy...
unlike the guy who wanted a
buck to borrow his pen!
Needless to say I didn't pay
him.
We went to see
Ben Harper in Burnaby,
BC, May 28/06!!! Great
show. The most amazing part
was when the
entire crowd of 15,000 was
totally silent while Ben sat
alone and played acoustic guitar.
That was something I've
never seen before.
We also went to see
The Cult
in
Calgary, May 19/06. It's been
a while since I've seen a mosh
pit and crowd surfing at a show.
Great to see that hard rockin'-biker
music is still alive.
We also went to "Dora's
Pirate Adventure", but it
wasn't as rockin' as TBC or
The Cult. Hey can someone
email me and explain what
the TicketMaster
"convenience charge" is
for? It sure is
convenient to give them
$65 to order 7 tickets
online yourself.

May of Queen in Toronto

Went to the
Queen + Paul Rodgers gig
in Toronto (March 16/06) and
it totally ROCKED! The
highlight of the night had
to be the surprise non-hit
(and one of my favourites),
"Dragon Attack", not to
mention the great seats!
I honestly had my doubts
going in, but new vocalist,
Paul Rodgers totally won me
over and guitarist, Brian
May was well... the great
Brian May. I was
afraid that the songs wouldn't work without the
late Freddie Mercury, but
after a year on the road
their sound has become a
Queen-Bad Company hybrid.
It wasn't quite "Queen", but
it was heavy. You'd
never know that these guys
are pushing sixty.
Brian May put it best when
he said that the current
tour was "a bonus in my life
and one that I never
expected".
Same here Brian.

Our Vegas/San Francisco trip
(Oct/05) was GREAT!!!
The Black Crowes totally
rocked
and I caught a drum
stick!
We Will Rock You was good
despite the late-arriving
talkers sitting nearby.
The Raiders lost,
but we had fun in
Oakland anyway.
Thanks for inviting us to your
tailgate party Spider.
